Okay, okay, I'm a Doug Wilson fanboy. I think he rocks. So here's yet another posting of his that I think is absolutely fantastic, and I would like you to read it and then come discuss it with me here in the comments.

great article. (i posted it on my blog too) it's something i was chastised for in my former church when i made some of the same suggestions. i had read Sayers' book Creed or Chaos and Dawn's book Reaching Out without Dumbing down before encountering Doug's messages on reforming worship. the connection between Sunday morning ritual and weekday cultural transformation is something the Church in America has got to grasp. we have instead transformed the Sunday ritual to the fit the culture. Duane Garner, one of Steve Wilkins' associates, touched on similar themes recently over at the Avenue Blog:

good article. the dumbing down of worship music is one of the major factors in the decline of the modern church. every time i find myself in a "contemporary" service i feel like an outsider because i can't keep up with the powerpoint words & lame melodies. unfortunately, my deep respect for worship music has also virtually hamstrung me when it comes to playing for a worship service. i always feel inadequate and a bit intimidated.
